"Recording Music and Recording History"

NEIGHBORHOOD STORYTELLING WORKSHOP

In collaboration with King Studios, Urbanist Media led a youth storytelling workshop focused on the people, places, and memories connected to King Records and Evanston. We trained students in oral history, interviewing, and place-based storytelling methods, then supported them as they interviewed Evanston elders about neighborhood life, change, and community memory.

The workshop gave young people practical tools (including podcasting) to document local history while building relationships across generations and helping preserve Evanston’s stories.

Funded in part by Ohio Humanities.
